K: Kindred Spirits

Old wood best to burn,
old wine to drink,
old friends to trust,
and old authors to read.
~Quoted by Francis Bacon, Apothegm

Fortunately I don’t have to burn wood, so I don’t need to know that old wood is best. I’m not a wine drinker, so the old wine part escapes me. But old friends and old authors – ah, now you’re speaking my language.

Then I think of the hours I spend in museums, in antique stores, and hunting down tidbits about times, days, and people long past.

Yes, I can agree, old is best. Old is a kindred spirit to my soul, so why do I not embrace it as thoroughly as an old friend or old author?

‘Tis true! However, some new friends come along when one is older and they are as much a treasure! I know this to be true!

True! I love old things myself and my old friends from school days ,however I too enjoy my newer friends whether they are old or young,of course I can’t forget my lovely blogging friends who share things that inspire me .😊 oh yes …old wood is best for burning if it is dried right, wood left in the weather its often wet and soggy..rather puts a damper on things like people that moan and complain about everything even on a lovely day!🤓
