A to Z: ‘G’ is for GARDEN SIZE

a2z_gIt’s April! That means it’s time for the ‘BLOGGING A to Z CHALLENGE’. Everyday this month (except Sunday) bloggers will be blogging to a theme, using different letter of the alphabet – running, of course, from A to Z.

I’m blogging about MEMORY GARDENS: botanical tributes to celebrate our loved ones. Most of my writing is about keeping memories alive, so a spring garden is a perfect match to celebrate loved ones memories. Come join us all month for 26 different posts about Memory Gardens … and then, maybe plant your own tribute to remember your own special person.

A to Z: ‘G’ is for GARDEN SIZE

First, determine where your memory garden will be placed. What size planting area do you have available? Is it a patio with room for a few potted plants? It is a small 4’ x 4’ spot? Is it a planter area alongside the house? Is it a full garden space?

Knowing what area you are working with allows you to choose plants to best fit your available space. A 4’ x 4’ area can make a lovely memory garden area. But it will not support ten or twelve different plants, nor many large plants.

I’m visiting from A to Z. What an inspiring theme you have here! We have a tiny garden, that we barely have (or take) the time to maintain properly. It’s always encouraging to read about small scale and not super-ambitious gardening projects. In our case, a specially chosen plant in a flower pot could be an option (very minimalistic!).

Yes, you don’t need a huge space to have a tribute to a loved one. A single potted plant, or even just a stepping stone can be used. Thanks for stopping by.
