National No Rhyme (Nor Reason) Day

Saturday, September 1st: What? No rhyme-time today? Today is National No Rhyme (Nor Reason) Day. Today is “A celebration of words in the English language that do not rhyme with any other words.” The day encourages creativity of thought and action to acknowledge the wonderful uniqueness of those words without rhyming partners.

What words don’t rhyme? Orange. Purple. Silver. (Unless purple-murple counts, that is.) What words can you think of that don’t rhyme with anything?

Celebrate the day. Celebrate unique un-rhymable words. Make your own list. Make a special dinner tonight using orange, purple or silver foods. Celebrate this special day, it won’t be around for another year!
