Friday, July 13th: A tiny little fruit that packs a lot of punch; July is NATIONAL BLUEBERRY MONTH. Blueberries are not only tasty, but out of 40 different fruits, juices and vegetables, the blueberry comes in with the highest antioxidant level, according to the North American Blueberry Council. Just three and a half ounces of blueberries are equivalent to over 1700 International Units of vitamin E.
Try this yummy blueberry smoothie:
BLUE WITCH’S BREW
1 package (12 ounces) frozen thawed blueberries or 2-1/2 cups fresh
1-1/4 cups apple juice
1 cup vanilla ice cream
1/4 cup milk
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
In blender combine blueberries, apple juice, ice cream, milk and cinnamon until smooth. Serve immediately.
Yield: about 4 cups
